Potential Number of Units Affected: 1611
Summary:
Certain CRG front brake levers, model RB-511 designed for use on 2004-2006 Yamaha R1 motorcycles, and 2005-2006 Yamaha R6 motorcycles. Model RB-512 is designed for use on 2003-2006 Ducati 749 and 999 motorcycles, and on 2004-2006 Aprilia Mille R motorcycles. Due to a misalignment of the pivot bore, the brake lever could become seized in the brake engaged position, thereby preventing the front brake from disengaging.
Consequence:
A non-release condition could cause drag on the front brake system, which could possibly result in a vehicle crash.
Remedy:
CRG will notify owners and replace the front lever free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during May 2006. Owners may contact CRG at 831-763-7811.
Notes:
This recall only pertains to aftermarket CRG front brake levers and has no relation to any original equipment installed on motorcycles manufactured by Yamaha, Ducati, Or Aprilia. Customers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236, or go to HTTP://www.safercar.gov.

Summary:
On certain motorcycles, the air filter mounting screws may come loose and fall out.
Consequence:
If the screws fall out, they could get caught in the throttle valve which could prevent the operator from reducing engine speed properly. This could result in a loss of control and a vehicle with injury or death.
Remedy:
Dealers will replace the air filter element with a new one that is designed to hold the screws securely free of charge. The recall began on November 29, 2006. Owners may contact Yamaha at 714-761-7842.
